ITINERARY

Day 1: Home City- Vancouver, British Columbia:
Fly to Vancouver, British Columbia. Nestled between the mountains and the sea, Vancouver is the crown jewel of western Canada. Enjoy a delightful two-night stay in the Vancouver area. This evening we gather for a welcome-to-the-tour dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2: Victoria - Butchart Gardens:
This morning we sail across the Strait of Georgia to lovely Vancouver Island. Upon arrival, visit magnificent Butchart Gardens. Located in an abandoned limestone quarry, Butchart Gardens rival any garden in the world for a myriad of colors and styles. Next, tour the provincial capital of British Columbia: Victoria. Regarded as Canada’s greatest city, Victoria is elegant and modern with a touch of England preserved amid the primitive beauty of the Pacific coast. Return to the Vancouver area for the overnight.
Day 3: Vancouver – VIA Rail’s Canadian Train:
Today’s sightseeing tour of Vancouver includes 1,000-acre Stanley Park, the beautiful Sunken Gardens of Queen Elizabeth Park, Gastown and Chinatown, second in size to those in San Francisco. Later today we board VIA Rail’s Canadian for an unforgettable journey through the Canadian Rockies to Jasper, Alberta. Follow the mighty Fraser River as the train winds its way through valleys and tunnels and into some of North America’s most spectacular mountain scenery. Enjoy panoramic views from the observation car and then a relaxing night from your private sleeping accommodation.
Day 4: Canadian Rockies by Rail ~ Jasper, Alberta:
This morning we continue this memorable train journey into the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy breakfast and lunch in the lovely dining car. Be on the lookout for wildlife as we glide along towering peaks which line the route. Bighorn sheep, mountain goats, bear, deer and moose flourish throughout this area. Later today, we arrive in the town of Jasper for a two-night stay.
Day 5: Jasper National Park ~ Maligne Lake:
Jasper National Park, named after Jasper Hawes, in charge of a Hudson Bay Company Trading Post in the early 1800s, was established in 1907. The majestic mountains, valleys and lakes offer spectacular views of Rocky Mountain wilderness. Enjoy a scenic boat cruise on Maligne Lake, the largest of the numerous lakes located within the park. Later this afternoon, we arrive back to our lodge with time to enjoy the various hotel amenities or absorb the pristine grandeur of the surrounding terrain.
Day 6: Columbia Icefields Parkway ~ Lake Louise, Alberta
Travel south along the beautiful Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Lake Louise. Following the Great Divide, the 143-mile route offers spectacular vistas of snow-capped mountains interspersed with pristine lakes, towering waterfalls, and numerous rivers that drain the meltwaters of the Columbia Icefields into the Arctic, Pacific and Atlantic oceans. Our scheduled snowcoach ride on the Athabasca Glacier will provide us with the opportunity to see and walk on a glaciated icefield formed by snow falling as long as 400 years ago. Later today we arrive in Lake Louise for a two-night stay.
Day 7: Banff National Park ~ Yoho National Park ~ Lake Louise:
A memorable day is scheduled as we motor through the picturesque Bow River Valley, past the historic Banff Springs Hotel and climb high into the heart of Banff National Park. Visit the “Jewel of the Rockies,” Lake Louise, known for its icy blue-green waters which mirror the majestic 11,365 foot Mount Victoria. Continue over the Continental Divide into Yoho National Park and see Moraine Lake and the Valley of the Ten Peaks, Emerald Lake and Takakkaw Falls, third highest in North America. Return to Lake Louise for our final overnight.
Day 8: Calgary ~ Journey Home:
Travel east through the foothills to Calgary. Once considered a cowtown, Calgary is a city of skyscrapers, contemporary houses, shopping complexes and was the site for the 1982 winter Olympics. Our return flight home will depart from Calgary International Airport.
