WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 28 -30, 2018 2 NIGHTS

Day 1 Nov. 28: Home City ~ Steubenville: City of Murals ~ Fort Steuben Nutcracker Village & Visitor Center: Travel aboard a deluxe highway touring motorcoach into the Ohio Valley. As we travel rest and meal stops are made periodically. Following a lunch break we arrive in Steubenville, Ohio – City of Murals. A guided city tour will feature some of the 30 murals which depict the history of this Ohio River town. Later today we gather for dinner at a local restaurant and then enjoy free time to stroll through the quaint Nutcracker Village at historic Fort Steuben. Highlights include life-size nutcrackers depicting local and historical characters and the gift shop in the Visitor’s Center offering a unique selection of gifts and souvenirs. Later this evening we arrive at our hotel for a two-night stay. Day 2 Nov. 29: Cambridge Dickens Victorian Village ~ Oglebay Park’s Winter Festival of Lights: Today we travel to historic Cambridge, Ohio to enjoy the annual Dickens Victorian Village. Journey back in time and experience old world England as historic downtown Cambridge is charmingly transformed into a Dickens Victorian Village. Our guided city tour features 88 scenes of 185 lifelike figures representing classic scenes from Victorian society. The displays include engaging depictions of classic Dickens-era scenes and figures such as Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim, the town crier, groups of carolers (that actually “sing” classic carols!), a bucket \brigade, lamplighters, school children, street peddlers and Father Christmas, all posed in active scenes that appear frozen in time. Enjoy free time to explore the charming streetscape, striking historic architecture, and eclectic shops and eateries of Cambridge. Later today we enjoy the Guernsey County Courthouse Holiday Music & Light Show. The courthouse comes alive with thousands of pulsating lights synchronized to holiday music. The display is computer controlled with over 500 electrical circuits and 20,000 lights. Following dinner we travel to Oglebay Park and embark on a memorable guided tour of Oglebay’s Winter Festival of Lights display. Since 1985 the Winter Festival of Lights has been delighting visitors of all ages! This annual holiday light show is one of the nation's largest, covering more than 300 acres over a six-mile drive throughout the resort. Enjoy a shopping stop at the festive gift store and a chance to see the life-size nativity scene. Later this evening we return to our hotel for the night. Day 3 Nov. 30: Pittsburgh ~ Phipps Conservatory ~ PPG Place Wintergarden & Advent Market ~ Journey Home: Following breakfast at the lodge we depart Oglebay and travel to Pittsburgh. Later this morning we visit Phipps Conservatory & Gardens and enjoy the wonderful Christmas displays. The conservatory was donated to the city of Pittsburgh in 1893 by steel and real estate magnate Henry Phipps. Set amidst one of Pittsburgh's largest greenspaces, Schenley Park, Phipps Conservatory stands as a cultural and architectural centerpiece of the city's Oakland neighborhood. Continue into downtown Pittsburgh for a stop at PPG Place. Visit Wintergarden, a bright and open, plant-filled, all-glass garden environment and site of the annual Spirits of Giving Around the World and Gingerbread House and Train Exhibits. The complex also features a quaint Advent Market which offers unique gifts and foods from around the world. Later today we begin our journey home. Rest and meal stops will be made periodically.
